Daniel Solace sneaks onboard the Kerberos after luring the ship to the Prometheus whilst in search of his wife, who was without her memory and the only person who knew of the location of the key, the remaining item needed to wake her up and end the simulation.
Biography[]
Sneaking on the Kerberos[]
Trapped on the Prometheus, Daniel lures the Kerberos to his location using his coordinates, sneaks onto the ship, and takes refuge in the cabin neighboring Maura's.[1] The following day, he attempts to break into Maura's room, claiming that he could hear someone whimpering inside. Maura asks if they had met before, as Daniel somehow seemed familiar, but he is doubtful they had. Later, he releases a green bug onto the ship, allowing it to roam freely, at which point it lures Ada to the upper deck, where Daniel kills her. That night, he returns to his room, where he holds a picture of Maura longingly.[2]
Searching for the key[]
Daniel breaks into Maura's room using a green bug. Once inside, he asks Elliot if he found "it". However, the boy did not. After returning to his room, Daniel shuffles around the pieces of a small handheld device that appears to activate the alleged steam pressure measurer that was installed by the company. Instead of measuring steam, the device seems to make the Kerberos completely disappear.[3]
Daniel goes searching for Maura and Elliot after the two of them disappeared out of the dinning room following the riot on the upper deck in which the boy was tossed overboard. He goes down the tiled shaft in Maura's room and into her memory, where he finds Elliot, who brought Maura here in hopes that she would remember, but she still doesn't. Unfortunately, they don't have much time, and Daniel needs to stop all of this before they sink the ship again. So he returns to the engine room to reprogram the steam pressure measuring device installed by the company, but he is attacked by a stokehole worker, who Daniel is forced to kill using his handheld device before successfully managing to stop the ticking and the passengers from killing themselves.[4]
Locked in Maura's dream[]
Daniel follows Maura and Eyk into her memory, where she accuses him of working for her father. After disarming the captain and using his handheld device to send Eyk back to his own memory, Daniel reveals that he's her husband of 12 years, but Maura doesn't remember and locks Daniel inside the medical room after first telling him to drop his device.[5]
Shutting down the simulation[]
Daniel awakens on the floor of the Mental Hospital to the sound of a voice telling him to "wake up" after having a dream in which he and Maura were in bed together discussing reality and the human consciousness. With Maura refusing to release him, Daniel begins looking for other ways out of the room, using a steel pole to pry off part of the hull behind the window, exposing a passage way, which he uses to travel to various other passengers' memories before ending up back in Maura's, but outside the hospital, where he climbs down into a bunker and embraces Elliot. Daniel informs him that they're shutting it down, he still hasn't found the code, and that Maura, the boy's mother, still doesn't have her memories, including where she's hidden the code.
Daniel discovers that Maura has gone down his shaft and finds her looking over their old family photos and kisses her, before revealing that they're all trapped in a simulation. She has to remember and wake up, or else her consciousness will be trapped forever. They're shutting down the simulation and the override code is the only way out before everything restarts, though only Maura knows of its location, but she hid it and made herself forget. They eventually realize the key inside her necklace is the code and head to the infirmary, where Daniel uses a device to reprogram the simulation, so that when it restarts again, they'll go through the same port to buy them more time. This simulation has happened dozens of times before. Every simulation runs eight days, but none of the ships have ever made it to their destination. It's an endless loop.[6]
After they're sent to the archive, Daniel goes to the engine room and hacks into the mainframe, changing the code needed to escape the simulation, thus rendering the key and pyramid in Henry's possession useless. He then reunites with Maura in her memory, where he reveals Elliot's toy pyramid is the new pyramid, and her wedding ring is the new key. Daniel also shockingly reveals that her brother took over the program. He's been controlling everything, not her father. Maura has to leave now and stop Ciaran before he realizes what's been done. Maura proceeds to place her ring inside the pyramid and awakens from the simulation.[7]
