Henry Singleton is a British investor and Maura's father. Initially believed to be the Creator of the simulation, Henry is, in actuality, just as trapped as everyone else and more determined than anyone else to escape, setting out on a mission to recover the pyramid and the key, his only hope of escaping.
Biography[]
Tampering with Maura's memories[]
Henry is confronted by Maura, who demands to know what he did to her brother as she's being taken away. He was on the Prometheus and discovered what their father was up to on the ship, but she can't remember anything beyond that point, her memories having been tampered with.[1]
Henry gets word in his office of an alert from project Kerberos. He reads the message and says that he doesn't have much time and that he needs the boy as soon as possible. He then opens the curtain to his office, where a large black pyramid resides just outside.[2]
Finding the key[]
Henry accosts Sebastian of breaking protocol, to which he replies that the situation got out of hand. Nevertheless, they have approximately 48 hours for the transfer. As for the boy, he's still missing. Henry demands that he be found, as they need the pyramid for the success of the project. Henry explains that people are oblivious to reality. They only see what they want to see, imprisoned by their mind's restrictions, when all they have to do is shift their perspective to see the full scope of things.[3]
Henry watches Franz, Anker, and Iben drown when Sebastian arrives with the boy and the pyramid. Every time, they make the same mistakes and every time they die because they can't get rid of their emotions, Henry reveals. Its human nature's ultimate flaw and what makes them weak. With the boy in his position, Henry speaks to Maura and Daniel over the PA system. Everyone on the ship will eventually die and take part in the next simulation; they're all trapped in the loop. However, Henry believes he can end it and wants the key. In return, he'll give them back their son. Henry then twists the bottom corner of the pyramid and opens the top, revealing a keyhole inside. He then tells Elliot that the Kerberos will be moved into the archives, his mother will bring him the key, and all this will finally come to an end.[4]
Henry informs Elliot that he's been fooled by his mother and that she's the only person who can set them free. He then offers Elliot an opportunity to learn the truth for himself and takes him to the Mental Hospital. Henry grabs a syringe filled with a white substance, but before injecting him, Henry reveals that the simulation isn't Maura's prison, rather it's Elliot's. They're trapped in the simulation so that Maura can keep the boy alive. Daniel has hacked into the mainframe in an attempt to wake Maura up without delivering them the key, and so Henry orders Sebastian to find her. When he does, he returns both with Maura and the key.
With the key in his possession, Henry takes Maura back to the mental hospital, where she is restrained to the chair, and he reveals that she's the Creator. She, along with Daniel, created this simulation and forced this path on to all of them, trapping them in a loop. Henry then injects Maura with the black substance to make her forget. Henry then returns to his office with Elliot and Sebastian for the pyramid and inserts the key, but nothing happens, leading Henry to conclude that Daniel changed the code.[5]
